It’s not that I was unhappy before. That’s not it at all. It’s just that when I’m with you, everything I’ve felt before seem like lesser versions of what I feel now.

Plays: 31,874Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul…

I always pull out my phone on dates and
take candid pictures of the guys I’m with.
When they ask why,
I tell them it’s because
I want to remember what it was like
to love someone without one foot
already out the door.
Before the kisses feel more like bite marks,
before ‘I’m sorry’ is etched into our features,
before ‘I love you’ tastes like ash on their tongues.
All good things come to an end,
and I am trying my best
to make peace with it.
